Anders Lorentzson, bass/bass-baritone,
was a soloist at The Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm for nine years before being engaged by The Göteborg Opera in 1994. His numerous roles with The Göteborg Opera include the titular roles in Le Nozze de Figaro and Der fliegende Holländer, as well as playing the parts of Leporello in Don Giovanni, Lindorf/Coppelius/Mirakel/Dapertutto in Les contes d'Hoffman, Baron Scarpia in Tosca, Don Prudenzio in Il viaggio a Reims, Colline in La Bohème, Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, the Doctor in Wozzeck, the Wanderer in Siegfried, Javert in Les Misérables, Geronte in Manon Lescaut, Osmin in Il Seraglio, Count Waldner in Arabella, Mephistopholes in Faust, Banco in Macbeth, Frank in Die Fledermaus, Martin Zapater in Goya, Hans Sachs in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Philip II in Don Carlos, the Water Goblin in Rusalka and Jacopo Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra. The roles which have garnered him the most attention were his interpretations of Baron von Ochs in Der Rosenkavalier, Wotan in Die Walkürie, Banco in Macbeth and the titular role in Falstaff. Anders Lorentzson's recent roles at The Göteborg Opera have been Mr. Flint in Billy Budd and Peneios in the concert performance of Daphne.
In 2007, he made a guest appearance at Vilnius Opera, in Lithuania, as Wotan in Die Walkürie, which he reprised during their summer tour to Ljubljana in Slovenia and the Ravenna Festival in Italy. More recently he has sung the roles of Wotan in Die Walkürie in Taipei, Taiwan and as Il Commendatore (Don Pedro) in Don Giovanni at The Royal Swedish Opera, where he will be singing the role of Arkel in Pelléas et Mélisande. In the autumn of 2015 he was employed as cover at Metropolitan for the roles of Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte and Pogener in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.
