Alexander Hanson, conductor, began his career as a musician by studying trumpet at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He obtained his training as a conductor at the renowned Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where he graduated with honours under Professor Leif Segerstam in 2004. Alexander Hanson is a regular guest conductor with most of the prominent orchestras in the Nordic region. In 2012, he made his debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall, London. In March 2014, he gave a guest performance at the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra with a programme comprising Edgard Varèse and Frank Zappa. Alexander has made many recordings with orchestras such as Dalasinfoniettan, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Gävle Symphony Orchestra and Göteborg Wind Orchestra. He has been engaged by the Göteborg Opera for a number of years now, and he has conducted several productions including Chess, La Cage aux Folles and Kristina from Duvemåla. From 2005 to 2012, he worked as Principal Conductor and Artistic Director for Göteborg Wind Orchestra. In August 2014, he took on the role of Artistic Director of the Armed Forces' Band North in Norway.
