Åke Zetterström
Åke Zetterström is educated at Teater- och Operahögskolan in Gothenburg and was a soloist at Stora Teatern, where his roles include the Sprecher and Second Armor Bearer in Die Zauberflöte, Saretsky in Eugen Onegin and Arram in Fiddler on the Roof.
Åke Zetterström started as a soloist at the Göteborg Opera in 1994, for our opening season. His roles include Diego Velazquez in Werle's Tavlan, Antonio and the Count in Le Nozze di Figaro, Imperial Commissioner and Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly, Masetto in Don Giovanni, Hans Nilsson in Äppelkriget, Zuniga in Carrrmen at the Small Stage, Soldier in Salome, The Priest Brusander in Kristina from Duvemåla, Angelotti in Tosca, Luther in Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Schaunard in La bohème, Schrank in West Side Story , Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Gunther in Der Niebelungen Ring, a muical/scenic compact version of Wagner's work, the male role in Grabbhalvan, Fireman in the Doll Doctor and Officer in Manon Lescaut, Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Ribbing in Gustaf III / Un Ballo in Maschera and the title role in Don Giovanni.
Åke Zetterström is a frequent concert singer and has sung the title role in Vadstena-Akademin's production of A Fairy Queen. In 1994 he received Birgit Nilsson's scholarship.
