European Opera Days

10 May at the Göteborg Opera

For the eighth year in a row, opera houses throughout Europe are holding an "open house", welcoming everyone to (re)discover the art of opera. This year 90 opera houses and companies in 23 countries will be participating.

In Gothenburg:

10:00 am
The Göteborg Opera, Box Office, Opera Shop and the Göteborg Opera Café open.

10:00 am–4:00 pm
Points Promenade in the foyer, for both children and adults. Win great prizes!

10.45 am
The Story Foyer presents Morfar Persson får ett paket [Eng: Grandpa Persson gets a parcel] for children aged 2-3. The Small Stage. A limited number of places will be available. Book free tickets here (LINK) from 7 May. Free admission.

11:00 am–12:00 pm
Seminar with dramaturgist Göran Gademan: Curious beginner? Opera for dummies. Meeting up in the foyer. Send booking request to marknad@opera.se by 8 May at the latest. Enter ”Seminar 11 am” in the Subject field.

11:30 am

Foyer concert: Music for violin and piano with Göran Österberg, Karin Johnsson and Flöjtklanger [Eng: Flute Sounds] with the flute section from The Göteborg Opera Orchestra. Limited number of seats available.

Guided tour. Starting outside the Opera Shop/Box Office.

3:00–4:00 pm

Opera concert with Eva-Lotta Ohlsson (soprano), Glenn Kjellberg (tenor) and Joakim Kallhed (pianist) in the Auditorium. Admission is free! Tickets can be picked up from 10 am from the Skövde Stage Box Office. Max 2 tickets per person.

3:00 pm
Performance: LasseMaja's Detective Bureau: The Opera Mystery. (Regular performance).

4:45 pm
Audience discussion: LasseMaja's journey from the book to the stage. The performers will talk about how the piece was created and will be pleased to answer any questions you may have. Admission is free!

5:30 pm
The house closes.

Skövde City Library is holding an exhibition of LasseMaja's Detective Bureau: The Opera Mystery with set design models, costume sketches and production photographs.
