Göteborg Harbour Festival

June 1-2 2013


On 1 and 2 June, the harbour area in Gothenburg is going to be filled with activities for the whole family.

Free admission to The Göteborg Opera's activities

The Göteborg Opera invites you to attend events that include concerts, large and small, all with free admission, and our Opera Shop will also have a fine range of items on offer. Food and drink will also be on sale in the Göteborg Opera Restaurant (Saturday) and Café (both days).


The Göteborg Opera programme – free admission!

Saturday 1 June 11.00 am - 5.00 pm – mostly for adults

11.00 am The Göteborg Opera opens.

11.30 am - 4.00 pm The Göteborg Opera Café will be open

11.30-16.00 The Göteborg Opera Restaurant will be open, with a special menu.

11.30 am Guided tours, starting out from the box office. Limited number of places available.

12 noon - 6.00 pm The box office will be open.

12.30 - approx. 1.30 pm Foyer Concert: A tribute to Britten.

This concert is devoted exclusively to the work of Benjamin Britten, as this year is the centenary of his birth. Performers: Nina Ewald (soprano), Erika Sax (mezzo-soprano), Ingemar Anderson and Jonas Olofsson (tenors), Erik Lundh (baritone). Musicians: Gregoire Nenert (French horn), Jessica Breitlow (harp), Martin Andersson and Joakim Kallhed (piano). Master of Ceremonies: Göran Gademan (dramaturgist).

The concert is a part of The Westpride HBTQ Festival in Gothenburg.

Concert with the Göteborg Opera Treble Chorus. The Small Stage. A limited number of places will be available – tickets can be picked up from the box office from 12 noon on the day of the concert.

4.00 pm - 5.00 pm Bränningar (Breaking Waves).
Orchestral concert featuring music from coast and sea, with the Göteborg Opera Orchestra. Conductor and Master of Ceremonies: Finn Rosengren. Soloists: Erika Sax, mezzo soprano, Dan Hjalmarsson, horn and Johanna Persson, viola. Main Stage.

18.00 The house closes.


Sunday 2 June 11.00 am - 4.00 pm – mostly for children and teenagers

11.00 am The Göteborg Opera opens.

11:30 am-2:00 pm The Göteborg Opera Café will be open.

12.00 noon-6.00 pm The box office will be open.

11.45 am and 12.30 pm The Story Foyer presents Sheriffen i Alingsås (The Sheriff of Alingsås) – a mini opera musical melodrama set in the Wild West. Ages 4 and older. Small Stage. Limited places available - tickets can be picked up in the foyer from 11.00 am on the day of the performance.

12 noon - 4.00 pm Get dressed up!
Children will be able to try on stage costumes, wigs and hats in the foyer.

2.00 pm Overseas.
Concert with the Göteborg Opera Treble Chorus. The Small Stage. Limited places available – tickets can be picked up from the box office from 12 noon on the day of the concert.

18.00 The house closes.


Wagner-Verdi-Britten Jubilee Exhibition

On 1 June, a jubilee exhibition will also be opening beside the Opera Bar close to the Dress Circle: Wagner-Verdi-Britten at the Göteborg Opera.
