Have-a-go dancing lessons
During the weekend of 27-28 October, dancers from the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani are holding free have-a-go dancing lessons for children aged 10-12.
The course is being held in The Göteborg Opera's large dance studio over two days led by dancers from the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
Those taking part will be able to familiarise themselves with different styles of dance – including ballet, modern dance, street, improvisation, rhythmic movement and jazz – and will learn some simple choreography.
There will be two sessions of have-a-go lessons: 27 and 28 October 1 pm - 3 pm.

Make your mark on The Göteborg Opera!
Challenge Gothenburg's best chess player 2012 27 October 10.00 am-1.30 pm in The Göteborg Opera foyer
Come and look – or become one of the 20 players who will face Gothenburg's best player, the internationally successful Victor Nithander (aged 25) in The Göteborg Opera's simultaneous chess tournament! The challengers sit at a long table while the master moves from game to game. It is estimated that the tournament will last around three hours. Anyone familiar with the rules of chess will be welcome.
Between 12.30-1 pm, Philip Jalmelid (Anatoly), Nina Pressing (Svetlana), Magnus and Henrik Rongedal (The Judge) from the Chess in Swedish-ensemble, will sign posters together with Christopher Wollter (chess player Freddie) who will hand out the prizes at 1 pm.

The chess tournament is being held in collaboration with the Gothenburg Chess Federation and is free of charge.
If you would like to, as from 20 October, you will be able to borrow chessmen and boards in situ in The Göteborg Opera Café and the Opera Bar.

Come along on a guided tour of the opera house, behind the scenes and along the corridors. In the foyer we'll have hung up costumes, hats and lovely items from our studios – all for a bit of fun and games.
The guided tours will start out from The Göteborg Opera box office at 11 am and 1 pm. First come, first served!
The dressing-up clothes will be brought out from 10.30 am. Take time, too, to have some refreshments in our beautiful foyer! The Göteborg Opera Café opens at 10.30 am.
