An opera for (and featuring!) young people. The atmosphere of a film noir. The emotions of first love. An opera that goes right to the heart of the teenage experience.
”There’s a new girl in town. She’s something else.”
Zoë is the new girl at Adambridge College. She joins a band with her classmates Felix and Luke called "The Mains", and a relationship begins to develop between Luke and Zoë.
Sophie Lavalle, a Hollywood actress, arrives in the seedy offices of private investigator, Casey Flood. She wants him to find her daughter who she abandoned years ago, and shows him a photo of her, aged 16. There is an uncannily close resemblance between Zoë and Sophie Lavalle at 16. Could this somehow be connected with the strange goings on at Zoë’s home? What exactly is her Dad up to with those strange plants, and why is he so protective of her?
Casey Flood realises the case he has taken on is anything but ordinary when he finds his way to Adambridge College and recognises Zoë from the photograph. As Luke walks Zoë home, Casey follows them to discover where she lives, but is led instead into an extraordinary tale of mystery, conflict and romance.
Five young people, in an ordinary town about to be confronted with a truth anything but ordinary, none of them could have imagined...
