Dance. Down the rabbit hole. It’s surreal and realistic, weird and wonderful, poetic and untamed – all at the same time.

A's Adventures
Creation by ANTON LACHKY
In A’s Adventures, Brussels-based choreographer Anton Lachky takes us on a journey into the realm of the subconscious, where emotional states we don’t know or don’t dare to know explode into view. In this fantastical world, where the poetic and sublime converge, a group of characters emerge through intense, fast paced physicality and a series of bizarre and wondrous events. The Göteborg Opera Orchestra plays Mozart, Bach and Haydn under the direction of Max Renne. Mezzo soprano Lena Haselmann sings and dances on stage together with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
Anton Lachkyis one of the founders of the Les SlovaKs Dance Collective in Brussels and has been running his own company since 2012.

"When it comes to 'A's Adventures', I was first interested in having a green hill on stage, inspired as I was by 'Alice in Wonderland'. With water, trees and rabbit holes. But along the way, the green knoll turned into a mountain of marble, which turned into a white mountain – which was transformed into the iceberg now visible on stage." Wasteland
Creation by INA CHRISTEL JOHANNESSEN
In Wasteland, Norwegian Ina Christel Johannessen has a whole different approach to the wonderland theme, when she depicts our escalating consumption. A wasteland created of what we leave behind in pursuit of our dreams. In an abandoned and decayed place – perhaps an old warehouse – the dancers interact with both set design and music. Belgian duo Stray Dogs perform live from their album Wasteland.
In Norway, Ina Christel Johannessen runs the Oslo-based company Zero Visibility Corp.

An interview with choreographer Ina Christel Johannessen
“In 2011, we spent a week in a freezing, deconsecrated church to record sounds made of waste we had found in the church’s basement – metal, wooden and stone objects that had been thrown away or forgotten. From these raw materials we composed music that eventually resulted in our album Wasteland." Stray Dogs, on their music in Wasteland
Stray Dogs' album, also called "Wasteland", is available for purchase in the OperaShop in the foyer. The package includes a vinyl disc, CD and download code for a digital copy.
