Concert. The Göteborg Opera Orchestra, Chorus and four exceptional soloists come together for a musical magnum opus: Beethoven’s ninth symphony.

Beethoven's ninth and last symphony is a musical magnum opus. The fourth and last movement – a setting to music of the Friedrich Schiller poem Ode an die Freude – is Beethoven's tribute to freedom and fraternity.
Malin Byström, who has enchanted us as Thaïs, is also in the limelight this spring in our production of Simon Boccanegra. Anders Larsson visits us for the first time since the title role of Goya. Katja Lytting has previously been a regular guest at The Göteborg Opera, appearing in productions including Die Walküre and Boris Godunov. The Göteborg Opera soloist Tomas Lind last set foot on our stage as Calaf in Puccini's Turandot.
Giancarlo Andretta is now in his third season as our guest principal conductor. This concert will enable him to show that, as an experienced conductor, he of course has more strings to his bow than just Italian opera.
