To give works of Richard Strauss or Richard Wagner every season has become something of a tradition at the Göteborg Opera. The 2002/2003 season we gave both Der Rosenkavalier and Tristan und Isolde. Now we have to content ourselves with 3 performances of Die Walküre in a version by Folke Abenius, with both the orchestra and soloists on stage. Die Walküre is the second opera of four in Wagner’s famous Nibelungen Ring, based on the Old Norse mythology and its heroes and heroines.
