Music theatre. Year 4 pupils create musical drama with words, pictures and poems on the topic of bullying.
This musical theatre piece forms part of The Göteborg Opera’s By the Young for the Young project, in which children and teenagers of various ages are involved in a production for The Göteborg Opera’s smaller stages. Autumn 2010, a script competition for upper secondary school pupils resulted in the musical Lova & Sam, in 2011 Kärlek är … [Love is ...] was created with the aid of words and pictures from 900 nine-year-olds in the region, and last year En amputerad själ [An amputated soul]– by, with and for upper secondary school pupils – had its premiere.
This season, Year 4 pupils from Västra Götaland have been sending in poems, stories, pictures and drawings on the topic of bullying. The products of their work are about bullying incidents that the pupils have seen or heard about, about how it feels to be bullied, or to be the person doing the bullying. The contributions will be converted into a musical drama piece which will be shown as school performances and public performances on the Small Stage. The music has been written by Teresa Indebetou, who also performs on stage.
