Concert. The Göteborg Opera celebrates the New Year with a magnificent ball on the Main Stage.
Experience an unforgettable Epiphany at the Göteborg Opera. This magical winter’s evening will be packed full of music, song, dancing, food and drink. The evening kicks off with a welcome drink in the foyer before the concert, which has been especially set up for this very special event. During the break the Main Stage will be transformed to a beautifully decorated ball room. As the icing on the cake, you can also enjoy some of our excellent food.
Two stars will provide an enchanting atmosphere during the Epiphany concert at the start of the evening: Peter Jöback and, by his side Kim Criswell.
The Göteborg Opera Orchestra will be conducted by David White, whose most recent appearance at the Göteborg Opera was Sunset Boulevard during the 2010/2011 season.
After the break we will take you to the ballroom floor on the Main Stage. The ball will start off traditionally with the Göteborg Opera Wiener Chapel, before Stardust Big Swing Band, led by Jan Eliasson, take to the stage together with jazz singers Erik Gullbransson and Margaretha Evmark. On the dance floor, you will see dress suits, saris, dinner jackets, long silk dresses, little black dresses and kilts - dress in whatever you think is beautiful!
Dance class.
The Göteborg Opera Epiphany Concert and Ball attracts a wide audience. Some know every step to every dance, while others invent them as they go along. This year we give you the opportunity to learn the basics (or improve what you already know) of dances such as the foxtrot and Viennese waltz!
The dance classes will be given on the Small Stage on January 2, 3 and 4 between 7 and 8 pm. Price: SEK 100 per person and class
