Tänk dig en värld

(Imagine a world)

Concert featuring The Göteborg Opera and Swedish Red Cross' International Choir 2016. Two performances on 29 May, at 2.30pm & 5.00pm

Tickets for the concert will be available from 9 May. Price SEK 20. Tickets may only by purchased or collected from our box office in the foyer.

Unrequited love, pining for one’s homeland and beautiful eyes. This could be a list of the themes from the great classic operas, like Pajazzo by Leoncavallo, Verdi’s Aida or Puccini’s La Bohème – but they are in fact subjects tackled by The Göteborg Opera’s and The Swedish Red Cross’ International Choir 2016 for its debut performance on 29 May. Unrequited love is the subject of an Iraqi folk song which will be sung in arabic, home-sickness in a Peruvian song in Spanish, and beautiful eyes is the subject of an equally beautiful Iranian song which will be sung in Persian.

The International Choir 2016 is made up of fifty international singers from Göteborg, and nine singers from The Göteborg Opera. Their ages range from 18 to 73. They come from 19 different countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America. Some have lived in Göteborg their whole lives, others arrived just a few months ago.

The Choir Master is Bo Wannefors.
