Arcangelo, the first of the three ballets, was created by choreographer Nacho Duato for Compañia Nacional de Danza in Madrid. It meditates over the Baroque conception of Heaven and Hell, and the choreographer has been inspired by two of the greatest composers of the time, Arcangelo Corelli and Alessandro Scarlatti. This is the first time he lets another company perform his ballet, an honour for the Göteborg Ballet.

Choreographer Nicolo Fonte returns to the Göteborg Opera for the evenings second ballet. He was highly acclaimed for his ballet In Hidden Seconds, which was part of Destination Dance. Together with composer Diego Dall’Osto he now creates a new work for our company. In this ballet, which constitutes the evening's epicenter, the baroque era is lovingly reflected through the eyes of today.

Sechs Tänze, the third ballet, by choreographer Jirí Kylián was first performed by Nederlands Dance Theatre. The music is by Mozart, but it is still an apparent tribute to the life affirming Baroque era.
