Artists, poets and composers have been interpreting the tragic tale of Orpheus and his beloved Eurydice for centuries. This concert entertains with music inspired by that myth, from the early 17th century Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi, to the current Nenia: The Death of Orpheus av Sir Harrison Birtwistle.
The first part of the concert offers entertaining music by Haydn, Rosenberg and Offenbach, while the second has a deeper gravity, with music by Stravinsky, Rautavaara and Liszt. The extended intermission will contain several surprises and musical voyages of discovery in the foyer.
