Dance. Five short creations by choreographers based in northern Europe.
Northern (de)Lights is a series of miniature works created for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. Together, the five diverse pieces include everything from live music and visual art to zombies. The area may be small and each work short but their intensity is solid, challenging and thought-provoking.
Norwegian Ingun Bjørnsgaard is inspired by Swedish author August Strindberg’s Inferno. The Swedish choreographer Charlotta Öfverholm's work is inspired by water in all its states. From northern Germany comes Felix Landerer - in his zombie-inspired piece the dancers interact with the rhythm of light. A claustrophobic atmosphere dominates Gothenburg-based Pedro Goucha Gomes’ work, while Peter Svenzon from the same city interweaves visual art, interviews and original electronic music in his choreography – in which a trumpet player features on stage.
Together, these five choreographers create a Northern European cultural context in the dance season theme Mind & Spirit.
