Chamber Music and Orchestra Concert at The Göteborg Opera
30 november 2014
Main Stage, Small Stage and Foyer.
Come to join us when we give a full day’s attention to the delectable world of chamber music! About ten chamber music works will be performed in total by The Göteborg Opera Orchestra together with Stefan Dohr and Ludwig Quandt from the renowned Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The Main Stage concert will be conducted by Stanley Dodds from Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The driving force behind this event is Henrik Schaefer, Music Director of The Göteborg Opera Orchestra.
Close Encounter will start at the Main Stage with Serenade, a one hour program with ensemble music by Paul Hindesmith, Richard Strauss and John Adams. Following this act, the audience will be invited to no less than six smaller concerts, with French and German flavours. These walk-in concerts will be performed up on the Main Stage and on the Small Stage. You can listen as you see fit – there's time enough to experience several smaller concerts. Among these smaller concerts are works by Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, André Jolivet and André Caplet, among others. You will also have time to dine in The Göteborg Opera Restaurant or enjoy the view with pleasant company and a refreshing drink.
The second act of the main concert is named Metamorphosen, and include Wagner’s Wesendonck-Lieder with soloist Katarina Karnéus and Metamorphosen by Richard Strauss.
Join us in this celebration of the chamber music repertoire, Richard Strauss’ 150th anniversary and take the chance to come closer to the 86 musicians of The Göteborg Opera Orchestra!
