Dance performance by JORMA ELO, CARINA REICH and BOGDAN SZYBER. Music by WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART (1756-1791)
Carina Reich and Bogdan Szyber, who devised the concept, start from the fact that Mozart, composing the work on his deathbed, never completed his requiem, having to stop in the middle of the Lacrymosa. We are transported here into two widely differing spheres: one filled with the rococo nobility of Mozart’s time, who commissioned music and masses in their own honour, the other inspired by the Shaker sect with their exquisite minimalist aesthetic and their intimate, ecstatic relationship towards God. Jorma Elo’s expressive choreography completes the picture.
