This will be the sixth time we stage our production of Madama Butterfly from our opening season, and this is simply due to popular demand from our audience. An extra incentive this year is the 100-year anniversary since it first opened at La Scala in Milan.

U.S. Navy Lieutenant Pinkerton marries the young geisha Cio-Cio-San "Japanese style" in Nagasaki. When Pinkerton has returned to the States, Cio-Cio-San gives birth to a son and for several years mother and son awaits the father's return. Pinkerton returns with his American wife. They want to take the boy back to the U.S. and the sun sets for the young Japanese girl.
