Operetta. Die Fledermaus is often called the operetta of operettas. At the same time, the work is so demanding musically and vocally that only opera houses are capable of staging it.
Operetta in three acts by JOHANN STRAUSS t y (1825–1899). Text Richard Genée, after Ludovic Halévy and Henri Meilhac
Göteborg has a long tradition of staging this operetta, and it therefore seems most appropriate to offer a refreshed version translated by Calle Norlén and directed by Staffan Aspegren.
They have chosen to stage it so that all those who were part of the operetta’s golden years in the 1960s in Göteborg will, in an unexpected way, find themselves at home. The ensemble is principally formed from The Göteborg Opera, spiced with the Norwegian coloratura soprano, Eir Inderhaug, as the joyful lady’s maid, Adèle, and tenor Jan Kyhle as Alfred.
