Opera. Göteborg has a strong tradition of performing the operas of Janácek, and it is a pleasure to be able to present the long-awaited Katja Kabanova, which has not been performed in Sweden since 1976.

Our Katja Kabanova is staged in conjunction with the Opera in Darmstadt. The director will be the world known John Dew and Shao-Chia Lü returns to conduct. Katja will be sung by the soprano Ingela Brimberg who sings her first role with The Göteborg Opera, and Susanne Resmark has the magnificent part of the mother-in-law, Kabanicha. Katja’s lover, Boris, is sung by The Göteborg Opera’s Tomas Lind. This will be the first time at The Göteborg Opera that an opera is sung in Czech.
