Dancer and choreographer Jorma Uotinen is a dreamer, a poet and a visionary. Anything can happen when he is in charge of the stage. That is why he has been called ‘a magician of the stage’. His started his career with work as an extra when he was 10, followed by work with the Finnish National Ballet and the American choreographer Carolyn Carlsson’s experimental group at the Paris Opera. Uotinen’s own company was formed in 1982 and is a part of the Helsinki City Theatre.

We are proud to present an evening with two of Jorma’s works. Ballet Pathétique has been successfully performed around the world. The other work, Swanlake², is a world premiere created directly for the Göteborg Ballet. Both to Peter Tchaikovsky's music.

Jorma Uotinen describes his dance as the art of free association and strives to create a total theatrical experience, in which movements blend with sound and lighting to form an expressive whole.
