Iconoclasm

Dance programme about the forces that crush and heal. Two new creations by highly acclaimed choreographers Marcos Morau and Stijn Celis – inspired by the dance season’s topical theme.

Please note: strobe lights are used in Iconoclasm (both works).

Marcos Morau
Edu Pérez

Besides running his own company La Veronal in Spain, Marcos Morau choreographs around the world. Being a photographer as well as a choreographer, Morau deals with the choreographic theme in an aesthetic and visual way, almost resembling an operatic format. In the winter of 2016 Marcos Morau’s duet Zelenstova was a part of the dance program Northern (de)Lights 2016.

Stijn Celis
Tilo Stengel

Stijn Celis has previously created Your Passion is Pure Joy to Me (2009) and Looming Sky (2011) for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. His Romeo and Juliet played here at The Göteborg Opera in the spring of 2016, performed by the Semperoper Ballett. Stijn Celis is a much sought after choreographer, based in Saarbrücken as the Ballet Director of Saarländisches Staatstheater.
