A few Saturdays every season the musicians and singers from The Göteborg Opera perform a casual concert in our foyer.
The Göteborg Opera Café opens at 11 am.

18 March – Preludes to tenors
Russian-born composer and author Lera Auberbach had her first opera staged at the age of 12. Today, she’s one of the most widely performed composers of the new generation, award for her compositions as well as her poetry. Göran Österberg (violin) and Karin Johnsson (piano) plays her Twenty-four Preludes for Violin and Piano.
In the second part of the concert, tenors Anders Håkansson, Olof Söderberg and Carl Wallin will enchant with Swedish Lieder. At the grand piano: Bo Wannerfors.
11 februari – ROMANTIC!A piano trio performs classical, Romantic music by Joseph Haydn och Felix Mendelsohn.
The trio: Yuki Tashiro (violin), Junghyun Byun (cello) and Jonas Olsson (piano).
26 november – cello love
Prominent cellists Hampus Linderholm and Jungen B Linderholm, partners in marriage as well as in music, perform a foyer concert filled with technical virtuosity and emotional beauty. Music by Bach, Barrière and Albeniz.
Hampus Linderholm is alt. section leader in the Göteborg Opera Orchestra.
29 October — Masters of Baroque
Laurence Cummings – conductor, baroque expert and one of the world’s foremost harpsicord players – will between conducting Idomeneo performances gather musicians from the Göteborg Opera Orchestra for a Foyer Concert. Bach, Telemann, Zelenka and Mozart are on the menu.
Performers: Peter Elbe (flute), Geoff Cox (oboe), Helena Nyman Panofsky (clarinet), Sebastian Wagner (bassoon), Philip Foster (horn), Öyvor Volle (violin) och Frida Grinne (basso continue).
23 September — Concluding Concert
For one week, the Berliner Philharmoniker’s alt. section leader, Professor Michael Hasel (flute) has been coaching the wind section of the Göteborg Opera Orchestra.
This finale concert shows how very versatile the wind timbre can be. Music from the Classic and late Romantic eras as well as contemporary music.

3 September — Nordic Light
A journey through Nordic harmonies, encountering Romantic composers Ture Rangström, Gunnar De Frumerie, Wilhelm Stenhammar, Emil Sjögren and Edward Grieg. Interweaving the music is recitation of Swedish poems by Pär Lagerkvist, Karin Boye and others.
Performers: Pernilla Ingvarsdotter (soprano) and Ha-Young Sul (pianist).
