At last Beethoven’s only and much-loved opera has come to the Göteborg stage.

Florestan has been imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. His wife, Leonore, decides that she must find a way inside the prison walls, so that she can once again see her beloved and free him.

Leonore dresses as a man and takes work at the prison, under the name of Fidelio. All that now stands between Leonore and her husband are the evil prison governor, Don Pizarro, and a string of intrigues and complications.
