At last Beethoven’s only and much-loved opera has come to the Göteborg stage.
Florestan has been imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. His wife, Leonore, decides that she must find a way inside the prison walls, so that she can once again see her beloved and free him.
Leonore dresses as a man and takes work at the prison, under the name of Fidelio. All that now stands between Leonore and her husband are the evil prison governor, Don Pizarro, and a string of intrigues and complications.
Ludwig van Beethoven wrote only one opera. Now you have the chance to see, and especially to hear it. For, above all, the opera is wonderful musically. In “Fidelio”, Beethoven has managed to capture all the brilliance of his symphonies and bring it to the opera stage
