He tells a tale of east and west, genuine and bought love, friendship and treason.

Director Stina Ancker wants to emphasize the mystique of the Orient, its beauty and cruelty and speed up the twists and turns of the opera in a colourful 18th century setting.
Stina Ancker has earlier directed productions at Stockholms Stadsteater, Vadstena-Akademin and Musikteatern i Värmland and now makes her debut at the Göteborg Opera.
