This production was first staged at the Göteborg Opera in February 2003. The cast was the same as now and the production was highly appreciated by both critics and audience alike.

Mozart's love for opera came into full bloom when he created Don Giovanni, which opened in Prague 1787. It has conquered the world stages with the same frenzy as the main character put into courting his women. Indeed, Don Giovanni couldn't even look at a woman without trying to seduce her. That made him both a comical and a tragic person.

Comedy or tragedy? The opera deals with the deadly sins and their consequences as well as disguises and mistaken identities with the same musical genius.
