Dance on tour. "Touring is like breathing. You return full of new impressions while at the same time increasing your knowledge of yourself and what is unique to you. That is why GöteborgsOperans Danskompani intends to continue its successful tours all over the world."
Adolphe Binder, Artistic Director Dance
GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, led by Artistic Director Adolphe Binder, is one of the most attractive companies in Europe. This international company constantly throws itself into new works, created by new and legendary choreographers who dare to enter the unknown and question genres.

Alaska
A group of people meet together. They all cherish a vague, common dream to move to somewhere far away, to freedom maybe to Alaska.
Dance performance by Gunilla Heilborn.
Or perhaps they are actually already there? They look as though they come from there. Some of them are talking together, someone is singing. What’s the penguin doing there? And the woman in the poncho with the strange hairstyle? Each of them has their own story, but deep down there lies that same longing for the wild, wide open spaces. Someone once said that it is the people who have not been able to manage life so well elsewhere who move to Alaska.
Alaska gathers GöteborgsOperans Danskompani in a class with freedom on the schedule. With dance, monologues and singing parts, our human awkwardness is embraced with humour and melancholy.
Alaska is the first work by Gunilla Heilborn for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani (formerly known as The Göteborg Ballet).

GöteborgsOperans Danskompani is the only Swedish dance company invited to the Nordic Cool Festival at the busiest art facility in the US: Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
During February and March 2013, The John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts focuses on Nordic culture through the Nordic Cool Festival. The international Festival is one of the year’s highlights and will show theater, dance, music, visual arts, literature, design, and film from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden as well as territories of Greenland, the Faroe and Åland Islands. GöteborgsOperans Danskompani is the only Swedish dance company to receive an invitation to the festival, and The Göteborg Opera is the only Nordic opera house represented. GöteborgsOperans Danskompani will perform at the Eisenhower Theater with two dance pieces from the current repertoire.
The dance company made it’s North American break-through with it’s guest performance at Jacob’s Pillow Festival in 2010.
Among the other invited guests are: From Sweden: Royal Dramatic Theatre and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, from Finland: Tero Saarinen Company, from Norway: National Theatre and Carte Blanche, from Island: Iceland Dance Company and Iceland Symphony Orchestra and from Denmark: Danish Dance Theatre. In addition, a multitude of jazz and youth projects will participate in the festival.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts opened in 1971 and focuses on producing and presenting a variety of theater, dance and ballet, orchestral, chamber, jazz, popular, world, and folk music, and multi-media performances for all ages. Every year the institution holds thousands of performances by the greatest artists from around the world as well as nurtures new works and young artists, creating performances, broadcasts, and touring productions while serving the nation as a leader in arts education. As part of its commitment to encourage the widest possible audience for the arts, the Kennedy Center offers the nation’s largest Specially Priced Tickets program for students, seniors and others with fixed low incomes. The Center also has been in the forefront of making the performing arts accessible to persons with disabilities. The Center reaches millions of people every year through its television programs.
The Kennedy Center, located on 17 acres, is America’s living memorial to President Kennedy as well as the nation’s busiest arts facility.
