Opera. Every generation has the right to see the La Bohème of its own time. The opera raises the serious questions of what it means to grow up and to take responsibility for survival in this world.
Opera in four acts by GIACOMO PUCCINI (1858–1924). Libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa after Henri Murgers novel
Appropriately enough we have chosen a young production team as well as a young group of singers. The director, Elisabeth Linton and stage designer, Astrid Lynge Ottosen, have produced an unembellished version that places focus on the drama of the opera.
In the roles of the two lovers, Mimì and Rodolfo, we will be able to enjoy the singing of the Finnish soprano, Helena Juntunen and the Turkish tenor, Bülent Bezdüz. The Opera’s principal conductor, Pietro Rizzo, will ensure that Puccini’s legato melodies are afforded the right Italian drive.
