Children & youth.

King Backwards and Grymt! are examples of performances that we have played for a younger audience.

Children and young people are always welcome at the Göteborg Opera. If you are a teacher and wish to bring your class for a visit we can offer you both school performances and guided tours guided tours at reasonable prices. You are also naturally welcome to come to our ordinary performances.

UNGA.

At the beginning of the autumn season 09, GöteborgsOperan launched UNGA (YOUNG), dramatic art for children and young people.
Mia Ringblom Hjertner, communications officer, coordinator and sometimes director, is responsible for UNGA. Mia also helps to run GöteborgsOperan Children’s Choir.

In a project with the working title Unga för Unga (Young for Young), we focus on Västra Götaland region’s vision of culture with young people, for young people and by young people.

"A story-writing competition will be announced, and the winning entry will be adapted for the stage in a workshop. The participants in the workshop will be upper secondary school students from the Gothenburg area, along with creative staff from GöteborgsOperan", Mia explains.

UNGA is also preparing an orchestral project for children, as well as a musical theatre performance for nursery and primary schools.

GöteborgsOperan Children’s Choir.

GöteborgsOperan’s brand new children’s choir is part of the UNGA project.

Children beetween the ages of 8 and 12 sing under the leadership of choir leader Ida Rosén. The children’s choir is a freestanding choir with its own projects and concerts. There may also be opportunities for these child singers to participate in GöteborgsOperan’s productions.

"Working with the children’s choir is meant to be fun-filled and challenging. The repertoire is mixed and we work with drama, singing, movement and rhythm", says Ida. During the season, the choir will work on different themes. The first theme is the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in November. Our celebrations will involve wonderful music from different countries and in different languages.”

Early next summer, the children’s choir will participate in the GöteborgsOperan concert A Touch of Taube.
