Introductions and panel discussions
Take the opportunity to learn more about the performance and get a more in-depth insight into the story and the background.
The introductions are popular, so come early. They take place either on the Small Stage or in the Opera Bar an hour before opera and dance performances (not, however on premiere or guest performance evenings). It does not cost anything extra, your ticket is valid for entry. The introduction takes about 30 minutes.
Panel discussions and seminars.
About one week before premieres we hold free panel discussions. At these discussions the artistic team and soloists or dancers talk about their work. Often an expert guest is invited to give a special perspective on the production. It could be a language professor, an architect, an art historian or perhaps a singer or dancer who have played the role earlier in their career.
These discussions take place on the Small Stage a week or two before the premiere.
The chair for the opera panels is The Göteborg Opera's dramaturgist, Göran Gademan, and for the dance panel discussions Adolphe Binder, the Artistic Director for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
Free admission. Some talks are held in English.
Food & drinks
Treat more senses when you visit the Göteborg Opera Restaurant, or our bars and cafés. “Enjoy a three-course meal at a linen-clad table, or choose something lighter from our bars and cafés. The idea is that there should be something for everyone,” says Kristina Hauge, restaurant manager.
The restaurant opens two hours before the performance. Bars and cafés open one hour before. If you wish you can place an order for the interval. The staff are used to large parties and you can relax and enjoy your food.
For every production there is a unique programme, in which you can learn more about the production and the cast. For example, you can read interviews with the production team, follow the rehearsal work before the premiere or see the costume designer's sketches take form in the tailor's studio. Programmes are available in the OperaShop next to the main entrance, or from our hosts in the foyer. A programme costs between SEK 40 and 60. The price varies slightly depending on the genre.
Book in advance or subscribe
You can also choose to order the programme in advance. In that case it will drop into your letter box in ample time before the performance. As a season-ticket holder you can also subscribe to the programmes. You can choose for yourself whether you wish to receive programmes for all of the performances that are included in your season ticket, or only a few particular programmes.
