Taking the role of Kumudha, Julia Sporsén is making her first appearance in Gothenburg, while American Eric Fennell is making his Swedish début in the role of the Prince. The Narrator is performed by Brittish baritone Omar Ebrahim, who has been involved in many contemporary operas. Nicola Raab is responsible for the direction – she was the director behind our internationally acclaimed Thaïs.
Thurs 9 april - dance
Dance programme by MICHAEL KEEGAN-DOLAN and ALAN LUCIEN ØYEN. Michael and his company, Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre, has been called the most provocative and original dance company in the world. Alan runs his own company, Winter Guests, and has choreographed creations for Skånes Dansteater as well as for the Norwegian National Ballet. He has been awarded numerous international prizes for his work.
Tue 19 May - Opera
Opera in two acts by Gioachino Rossini. The title role is now interpreted by Gaia Petrone, a young Italian mezzo-soprano whose international status has sky-rocketed. In fact, her acclaimed success as Cinderella, at the Wiener Kammeroper has contributed to this. Her prince is young Russian tenor Sergey Romanovsky, who has specialised in Rossini's almost ethereally high tenor sections.
