Boundless love, warmth, humour as well as magnificent show numbers. This prize-winning musical comedy has been conquering the world since its first performance on Broadway in 1983. It contains such grand numbers as "Our best time is now" and "I am who I am" with a heart-warming story about the right to be yourself. Mikael Samuelson and Hans Josefsson play the main roles as Zaza and Georges.

Billy Budd
Opera in two acts by Benjamin Britten (1913-1976)

Swedish premiere. In the original version, Billy Budd takes place on a ship at sea. In this production, the male-dominated power struggle is relocated to a British boarding school setting and all that this entails. Billy is young, beautiful and vulnerable. He is portrayed by the international opera star Peter Mattei. The substantial cast also includes Lars Cleveman, Clive Bayley and Mats Persson. The production comes from Oper Frankfurt.

Out of Mind
Dance programme by Richard Siegal and Hiroaki Umeda
For the very first time in Sweden. Richard Siegal is an American choreographer who creates a meeting of dance and design, visual arts, architecture, music and literature. He often involves the audience. Hiroaki Umeda, from Japan, is a choreographer, dancer, photographer and video artist with very visual pieces. Both of these choreographers are visiting Sweden for the first time and have each created their respective work for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.

Performed in Swedish. What happens when two strangers come to a small peasant community? And when the young peasant falls in love with the worldly young woman? This love comedy offers plenty of laughter and exquisite music in a circus setting. Stina Ancker directs and the main roles are interpreted by Elin Rombo and Daniel Johansson.

Orfeo ed Euridice
Opera in one act by Christoph Willibald Gluck (1714-1787)

We are presenting Gluck for the very first time. The myth tells of Orpheo, who will bring back his beloved Euridice from Hades - if he can take her back to the world of the living without turning around and looking at her. Gluck, who reformed the opera, will have a tricentennial celebration in 2014 and we take this opportunity to set up the rarely played Parma version, here with Katarina Karnéus and Kerstin Avemo in the title roles.

Spirit
Dance programme by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Saburo Teshigawara.
Two masters have created new pieces. A dance by Belgian multimedia artist Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui can contain everything from deep spirituality to comedy. What interests him most is what happens between the dancers. Saburo Teshigawara is one of the world's most prominent choreographers. Everything he creates is aesthetic, beautiful and austere - but also spiritual and subtle. The music in Metamorphosis consists of newly composed electronic music and a capella choir vocals. Both pieces have been newly created for the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.

La Juive
Opera in five acts by Fromental Halévy (1799-1862) Libretto: Eugène Scribe
Very demanding for the singers. The romantic and dramatic music in La Juive requires excellent singers, and the main female role of Rachel is played by the French soprano Mireille Delunsch. She portrays the Jewess who falls in love with a Christian prince and the story is full of love and oppression. The production comes from the Lithuanian National Opera and in the other roles we also see Lars Cleveman and Ida Falk Winland.

Guest performance with Companhia Nacional de Bailado (CNB) Ballet by Fernando Duarte in the manner of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov
One of dance history's foremost ballet classics. A guest performance by the National Ballet of Portugal with a new version of Swan Lake, created by the choreographer Fernando Duarte, who is also first soloist and ballet master at cnb. The music and story adheres to Tchaikovsky's masterpiece. The set design is created by film director Edgar Pêra and the costumes are made by fashion designer José Antonio Tenente.

Göteborgs-Posten "… every moment holds a delight." 7,500 visitors managed to see Homeland? last season. Now the hit is back. In Mama, I´m Coming Home, there is a rock band on stage. Untitled Black is austere, intelligent and mysterious at the same time. DJ Ori Lichtik is in place in the auditorium. Together, the music and the dancers create an evocative whole.

Tosca
Opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) Libretto: Giuseppe Giocosa and Luigi Illica
Dagens Nyheter: "An incomparably emotional and powerful Tosca". Puccini's dramatic love triangle is an opera filled with love, jealousy, politics, murder, passion and beautiful airs. The production, which premiered in autumn 2011, had an enthusiastic reception from critics and audience alike. It takes place in Italy in the 1930s, in a dramatic era between two world wars. Annalena Persson interprets the part of Tosca, and her beloved Cavaradossi is played by Tomas Lind.
