Direction: David Radok
Premiere 22 September 2012
Premiere 22 september 2012
Dvořák's Rusalka, with its many interpretations of nature and mysticism, has been a much-requested work that we will now perform for the first time in Gothenburg. The libretto is based on H.C. Andersen's The Little Mermaid. We get to experience a visually vertiginous journey, a musical idiom from the Late Romantic period and Dvořák's masterly ability to write for orchestras. The soprano, Elisabet Strid, has played Rusalka on many world stages and now performs her first role at The Göteborg Opera. The Austrian tenor Nikolai Schukoff creates the role of the prince and as the witch we see Susanne Resmark.

Native Israeli Sharon Eyal was the house choreographer for the Batsheva Dance Company for which she has created a number of critically acclaimed works which appeal to audiences and have the power to move them.
Roni Haver and Guy Weizman focus on contemporary subjects with the aim to inspire, confront and touch the audience. The recurring theme in their work is personal liberation. Mama I’m coming home is a creation about social identity, personal liberation and belonging.

The Rite of Spring / bODY_rEMIX

Premiere 2 march 2013
When the internationally famous, award-winning Canadian choreographer Marie Chouinard is creating a new piece she focuses her artistic antennae on hidden dimensions. bODY_rEMIX is all about role reversal. It is feminine and brilliant, sophisticated, taut and, at the same time, painfully physical. 2013 it will be 100 years since the world premiere of The Rite of Spring. In this spring of the “Rite” we will present two world classics on Stravinsky’s ballet. In Chouinard’s version, the movements from 1913 are remixed for our time in a way which allows them to be reborn in a new harmonious context. The Göteborg Opera Orchestra plays the famous music.
